How to make a plane

You’ll probably find that the most difficult part of the project is making a router. The router is the tool that’s used to cut out the slots in the center of the dovetails. A router is not a free lunch. You can make one from wood, but it will probably cost about $100-$150 and take several hours to make. You will also need a drill press and vice. If you already have a router, congratulations, you’re ready to make your own dovetail drawer. If you don’t have a router, that’s where the fun starts.
First you will need to get some wood. I found some maple that was already milled into a wedge shape. The wedge form has an easily discovered shape. It’s still flat on top and has an even-width top and bottom. One side of the wedge is about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick. If you make a dovetail with a long, narrow face, you will need to have the wedge milled so it has a long, narrow face. If it’s a wider face, you can make it more square. The wedge shape is very easy to make by hand or by using a circular saw. The saw is great if you’re not very skilled with a hand saw. The circular saw is amazing at making square edges. You’ll need to use the circular saw to chop out the ends of the wedge. On most circular saws, you’ll need a guide to make the cutting path of the saw. A slot-in saw works best. If you are using a circular saw, you will need to file the blades to clean them up so they are even. If you are using a hand saw, you can probably get away with a low-cost, bought blade.
You will also need to have a drill press and a vise. A vise is a tool that holds pieces of wood in place so you can drill or cut them easily. You can make your own vise using wood and clamps, but a drill press vise is fine. You can also use any of your standard drill press components, including the drill bit and chuck. I recommend a drill press that is slower than standard, but still quick enough to make the cuts on the joint line in the center of the face. You don’t need a powerful drill

Maple 14 was used in the initial release of Maple. It was later updated to Maple 15 and then Maple 16. Maple 14 is still used for the maintenance releases of Maple. It is the most common release version on the web.

Maplesoft Maple is a version of Maple created by Dassault Systèmes S.A.S. For users with financial obligations and purchases, Maple is sold on a per user/per year basis. Users who purchase Maple from Maple Inc. can get the later version of Maple for free. Maple Inc. calls this version “Maple 15”. This version of Maple is identical to Maple 14 except for the changes described below. This version was never released as an official update for Maple 14.
There is no official support of Maple 14 from Maple Inc. even though it is the most popular version. If you have an e-mail, you can contact Maple Inc. for updates.
